On 2 November 1920, Leith was merged into Edinburgh, very much against its will. Exactly 106 years later, on Monday 2 November 2026, we’ll be launching the sixth Leith Writing anthology and you’re invited.
We’re back at the Port of Leith Distillery Bar on Whisky Quay, where we launched The Silence in Between last year. Doors open at 6.30pm and we’ll carry on until 9pm.
This year we didn’t set a theme. We offered a prompt instead, “Tracks and Traces”, and left it to contributors to take it wherever they liked: old railway lines, the new tram, thirty years of Trainspotting, or somewhere off the map entirely. What came back is the pick of this year’s writing and art from Leith, by people who live here, work here, grew up here or just can’t stay away.
Contributors will present their work on the night, so expect poetry, stories, memoir, the odd song and probably a few surprises. Everyone who comes will go home with a copy of the book.
Places are free but limited, so please book through Eventbrite:

Monday 2 November 2026, 6.30pm to 9pm
If you can’t make it, copies will be available to collect from Argonaut Books, 15-17 Leith Walk, while stocks last.
Leith Writing is a registered charity (SC053463) and the book is free to everyone. That only works because of donations from people, local businesses and funders. If you’d like to help keep it going, you can donate at Argonaut or through our website, and every named donor is listed in the next edition.
See you on the 2nd.
